New Project: NeToU Media Server

Written by NeToU on Sunday, 22 of February , 2009 at 11:38 am

Recently Benjamin Zores’ uShare project has discontinued development, with no word on whether the project will begin again or not I have decided to publicize my own Media Server project that has been progressing on and off for the last few months.

There are more details to come over the next few weeks as I start setting everything up online, I have a prototype media server built around the cyberlink libraries that supports video sharing to the Xbox 360 but my plan now is to follow in uShare’s footsteps and use libupnp with the intention of adding PS3 support further down the line using Ben Zores’ libdlna.

I will hopefully have the sourceforge project setup within the week with the 0.1 release (supporting at least Video sharing on the Xbox 360) along with a fuller project roadmap in the coming weeks.

Project Summary: Netou Media Server will support Music/Video sharing over UPnP specifically to, but not limited to, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games consoles.

More updates soon,

NeToU
